All Right. What is This?!

Yesterday, it snowed. I suppose I shouldn't be so shocked; it's only early April, after all. But to think, the other night I was out for a walk in a spring dress and flats. yeesh....

In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at another new piece I'm working on. I'll post some more pictures in a little while if it turns out the way I want it to.

New Spring Goodies

So I shot photos like mad over the course of last week and spent a few hours outside (in weather not quite warm enough for a sleeveless top) being photographed by Seguin. It's kind of too bad I didn't wait a bit, as I would have had a wonderful excuse to enjoy the great weather we've had lately. On the other hand, I've had time to upload all the pictures, and can finally share some images of my recent jewellery work. Check it out, let me know what you think!

Finished!

A while ago, I was commissioned to create a pair of wrist pieces as a gift for a couple who will be getting married in the Bahamas. The requirements were that the pieces were to be beaded and they were to include the pair's names, the date and the location. I was also told the bride's favourite colour was tiffany box blue.


The couple has since been given the pieces and I feel safe posting them for you all to see. So here they are!

It's Coming, Really!

Today is the first gloomy day all week. The sunshine is gone and I actually see little snow flakes in the air. It could be the dry sand on the visible pavement, the sound of a little kid on a bike, the cool (not cold) air, or maybe just my relentless optimisim, but I still feel spring creeping up on us.
I've been making all kinds of new jewellery in anticipation. Lots of new colours! Keep an eye open; I'll be posting photos soon.

Bummer

It's awfully difficult to leave the house for work when there's purring young kitty falling asleep in your lap.

Eager for Spring

Typically, I'm the type of lady who relishes the change in seasons. I enjoy what each time of year has to offer, savour each season while it's with us and then look forward to the new one as it approaches, even winter. This year however, I find myself longing for spring a little earlier than I typically do.

Maybe it's the spring like weather reminding me of all that the coming months have to offer. The warmish weather makes me want to open all the windows and let the fresh air in. The drip drip of melting snow and the warm, bright sun tease me with suggestions that I can lose the winter coat, even though it's far too early.

There's also any number of little everyday things that trigger instant summer flashback. Slipping on my sandles to carry laundry downstairs reminds me how nice it will be when I can wear only them to walk to town. The sandy patches of dry pavement remind me of walking in the sun, and how nice it will be when the roads and walkways are clear for bikes and cute shoes. My house plants in the sun put me in mind of all the pretty flowers and lush green foliage we are in for, if this summer is to be anything like the last. People standing and talking in the parking lot below my window, or shouting in the street, bring to mind how nice it is when the weather's warm enough to do that comfortably. Daylight, remaining just bit longer each day, tells me that soon the days will last long enough for me to walk comfortably with my man or a friend to dinner, or a drink, or a movie.

Thoughts of being out and about like that remind me of other lovely summer things too....walks through the woods and ice cream and bonfires and buying cheese sausages on Main street. Swimming and sitting on patios with friends and wandering into convenience stores for chips and freezies. Awnings and birds and people playing guitar outside....there's so much I'm starting to look forward to, now that I'm reminded of it.

There's big plans for this summer too, shows I hope to get into and friends I plan to see, babies waiting to be born and adventures I hope to embark upon. I only hope my expectations don't outshine what's actually in store for me.
