Elijah

My best friend had her second baby the other day. I was her support person while she was giving birth. At the time, I was pretty focused on keeping her calm and comfortable and afterward I was pretty tired and didn't think much about it. But now that it's all over, I think it's pretty cool.

His name is Elijah, and he's just lovely.

Upcoming Show!!

I imagine this is short notice, but as I only just got confirmation myself....
This Saturday May 2nd, I'll be heading back to Sheridan to appear in the Arts Open House and Craft Sale. It should be neat to see the school again; I haven't been there in almost two years. A little intimidating too though, I have to say. Kind of like how I imagine going to a high school reunion would feel.

New Necklace and Other Things

I've got a new idea for a necklace today that I'm pretty excited to work on. That's been happening a lot lately, ideas popping into my head, things to try, even when I'm not actively sitting in front of my work table, experimenting.

It's reassuring, really, as I've found it's a lot harder to keep the creative energy in one's life once school goes away and things like work, chores, friends and family start chopping up your time (delightful as some of those things may be).

But lately I've really been feeling it, the urge to create, so much more than just my jewellery, too. Inspiration has been coming from all around me, songs on the radio and shapes and smells, stories in books, shows and movies, even patterns and colour combinations pop out of everything I see. I feel like some sort of artistic vampire, hyper alert to my surroundings, ready to make a meal of any inspiration I come across.

If that's what the life of a full time designer/artist is like, than I've definitely made the right choice.

For the last few weeks, my net savvy mother and I have been working on building a website. It's not finished yet, but I feel like it's coming along pretty nicely!

All Right. What is This?!

Yesterday, it snowed. I suppose I shouldn't be so shocked; it's only early April, after all. But to think, the other night I was out for a walk in a spring dress and flats. yeesh....

In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at another new piece I'm working on. I'll post some more pictures in a little while if it turns out the way I want it to.
